Geoff,
I am needing a single file flash output. I really like the slideroll tools and set-up, and am a Pro member, but cannot download a single SWF file for publishing. When I download it, I get a folder full of files, rather than one SWF for embedding into my site.
Thanks, Jim

Jim,
Why would you need a single file? You can just upload all the files to your web server. Having separate files allows the slideshow images to stream in as needed instead of loading the whole thing at once.
Thanks! Geoff

At first I liked SlideRoll but when I started to compare against two products I have used in the past: MemoriesOnTV and PhotoToMovie the area I felt SlideRoll needed some additional feature work was in the pan/zoom. There isn't much control! I would like to zoom in on a face then pan to a few other faces in a picture then zoom out. Font control - color, size, style and movement. I like the other suggestions that have been posted.

I love this product. I upgraded to pro.
My wishlist includes:
1.Some choices about font style and size. San serif, italics, serif, bold, light, small medium large choices would be nice.
3. Wider timeline working space. It's difficult to edit and then drag multiple slides forward to fill the empty space.
4. Captions that can be placed anywhere on the slide, with font choices as per above.
5. Option to add forward and back buttons to playback controls.
Thanks~!

Thanks for the feature requests. Unfortunately none of those are quick and easy adds, but I'll put them on my list!

About adding music to slideroll.
You said "I would LOVE to be able to allow users to upload their own music, however copyright law prevents this." I own the CD's for my music, load them onto my PC, want to add them to my slideroll. There is no way anyone can prove or disprove they purchased any of the music on their PC's.
Just adding a song to a slideshow does not break any laws.
Using "canned" music takes away the creativity of your work.
Sorry just wanted to vent.
Thanks

Actually, it does break the law. Purchasing a CD of music doesn't mean you own the copyright. Purchasing the CD grants you license to listen to it yourself and use it in ways that qualify as "fair use."
Unfortunately, uploading your music to the internet does not qualify as "fair use." It is a form of broadcast. You don't have license to broadcast the music you've bought on CD.
Thanks!

Hi, How feasible would that be to add time on output flash videos? I use slideroll for a personal website and put my home videos on it. Some are an hour long and when we watch it, we don't really know how much is left and how much has passed. Thank you. Sebastien.

Once you make all the additions that "Kingscott" suggested I'll be more than happy to go pro. As far as the music goes, I want to be able to upload my own music also. As long as a viewer or reader to your website is unable to download the song that you've uploaded into your slide from your page, I think it classifies as "fair use."
Otherwise I love this product!

How you increase the time each photo appears on a slide show? For example, currently the slide show is set for 2-3 seconds. I tried going to settings, but it had no affect. Other than that I really like the program. [email protected]

Hi Geoff Yes I have a few suggestions because I am facing this problem
Please give more choice in background color. I need one that fits with my website background but cannot attain it with the three little dot on scales your application provides.
I also desperately tried to use the transparent function but it does not work for pictures that are smaller than the viewer area. (I do not want to use FIT because I have horizontal and vertical pictures.
Also, I may be silly but I have not seen anywhere the possibility for the people watching a slideshow embedded on my website to see a specific pictures by using thumbnails. The slideshow does not have thumbnails. I am wrong?.
I am trying to figure this out before I go to your pro version.
There are times when the slideshows skip, or that the laps between pictures are not the same. In the setting they are all equally spread. And the slideshow can be very very long to load. 40 pictures today is taking one minute. Why is this please?
I appreciate all the work you have put into this. Please help us have a background transparent or an easier method of specifically selecting a color Kind regards Katia

Katia,
Thank you for the suggestions. It is always helpful to hear where people are running into difficulties so I can make Slideroll better.
I have just recently started work on a complete overhaul of the slideshow creator code. So, I hope to at least include some of your suggestions.
Currently, the slideshow does not include thumbnails. If you would like, you can use Slideroll Gallery AV (downloadable application, link below) to create a gallery with thumbnails.
The new creator will include a completely new color picker, which will allow for finer control and even direct HTML color code input.
I will be sure to include the ability to set the color of the background to transparent in the next version.
As far as the long load-time. I'm not sure what would be causing this. It's not due to the software. It's most likely due to our content-delivery network. I'll keep an eye on this.
Thanks! Geoff

You can use the Video Creator (link on home page) to create a video from your slideshow and add your own MP3.

Hi Geoff
2 things really. First I just wanted to add my voice to others by saying how fantastic Slideroll is. There really isn't anything else out there for amateurs like me that comes close!
The other thing is that I wonder how the new version of Creator is coming on? I read that you are working on the colour picker? I'm currently building a website and have managed to create a fantastic header for my home page with slideroll, however it would be even better if I could set the background to 'transparent' as the slide can take a while to load.
Many thanks Geoff Gary

Gary,
Thanks for the feedback and the praise!
There's no definitive date on the new creator, however I will be stepping up the pace soon. I'll keep your feature request in mind as I develop.
Thanks again! Geoff

Geoff, i'm from Brazil. It would be very good if you could improve Slideroll to accept HTML ampersand character codes in XML files. Portuguese speakers need that functionality.
Your tool is terrific, thanks!

I love the program! Thank you for all your hard work. I wasn't able to find an answer to whether you can change the color of the controls appearing beneath the video. currently the color of the controls really disrupts from the flow of the design on my web page. IF you could change the colors of the play controls that would be great. Alternatively if the controls were invisible until cursor rollover, that would be great too! Other than that, it's easy and fun to use!

I am looking for a gallery that allows me to have a left and right arrow and between the arrows are thumbnails that flash from one to the other and right above is the larger image of the thumbnail. Can slide help with this request?
I saw the slide roll gallery you suggested above. Is this a free download or will I be charged for it in addition to my current membership.

Hi! Unfortunately you can't upload music to Slideroll. You could, though use the Video Creator to make a video with your own music and upload that to YouTube.
Thanks! Geoff
