Sorry, that didn't work.
I am using a paid version of Sliderroll AV. I really like the look of the gallery, but it is really i pain to work with! I have spend hours with this and can't get anything to work!
Now I have another problem: check www.pawsitivelypetsanimalhospital.com/photo_gallery.html
I am getting a message in safari that it can't find: http://www.pawsitivelypetsanimalhospital.com/crossdomain.xml
I have no clue what that is!
Please help! Thanks!

I can see your gallery just fine in Safari.
You are getting a 404 error because there is no crossdomain.xml file on your server. It should not be necessary, though, because your gallery appears to be working normally.
If you are having trouble getting your slideshow to appear on variations of your domain (for instance, without the www) you can try changing your embed tag:
Where you see (in 2 places):
Code:
http://www.pawsitivelypetsanimalhospital.com/Patients Gallery/ |
replace with:
That should eliminate the need for a crossdomain.xml file.
Let me know if you continue to have trouble.

Yes. Simply publish your slideshow, and in the pop-up there are many embed options.

You can use iTunes or Winamp to create an MP3 from your music CD and then use the Video Creator (link below) to turn your slideshow into a video. Finally, use the software that came with your DVD burner to burn the video to DVD.

Dear Geoff,
I am trying to embed a slideshow I created with slideroll.com slideshow creator into a website. I used the method you described in the beginning of this thread, and indeed something does appear from the server where I uploaded the files.
The trouble is: The slideshow does not appear as a_slideshow_, but rather as a gallery, ie no autoplay, and there are thumbnails on the left ...
How can I get rid of these thumbnails and display just the slideshow?
Kind regards, chris

Chris,
For the slideshow, use slideshow-xxxxxx.swf and for the gallery you use gallery-xxxxxx.swf (xxxxxx being the number of your slideshow).
If you still have trouble, post the embed code you are suing here and I can help debug it.
Thanks!

Geoff,
I have tried both slideshow-xxx.swf and gallery-xxx.swf- strangely enough, the outcome is exactly the same ...
I have a test page on: http://www.michael-merks-coaching-group.com/balance_beruf_test.php where you can see the result.
The code I use is: <!-- Slideshow Player Code --> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="/flash/slideshow-334086.swf" id="slideshow334086" width="378" height="174" wmode="transparent" base="http://www.michael-merks-coaching-group.com/flash/"> <param name="movie" value="/flash/slideshow-334086.swf" align="top" /> <param name="base" value="http://www.michael-merks-coaching-group.com/flash/" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="scale" value="noscale" /> <param name="salign" value="tl" /> <p><a href="https://slideroll.com" target="_blank">Create a Free Flash Photo Slideshow</a></p> </object> <!-- End Slideshow Player Code -->
Thanks for advance for your help, this is really confusing (and I need the slideshow up and running by Monday ...)

Dear Geoff,
is there anything I can do to make this work? I'm sorry if the answer to this is so obvious that posting this is stupid... I just don't see why the code below plays a gallery when it should play a slideshow ...
Do you have any ideas?
Thanks and kind regards, Christ

Christ,
I downloaded your slideshow to double-check, and everything looks as it should in the downloaded ZIP file.
But, when I visit this URL: http://www.michael-merks-coaching-group.com/flash/slideshow-334086.swf I see the same SWF as the gallery: http://www.michael-merks-coaching-group.com/flash/gallery-334086.swf
This is very odd. Did you perhaps copy the gallery SWF and overwrite the slideshow SWF file when you uploaded it?
In the ZIP file, you should see a slideshow and gallery SWF - can you verify that they are different? If so, try re-uploading the slideshow-334086.swf file again, and remove the gallery-334086.swf from your server just in case.
Hope this helps!

mistyluke,
The slideshow player most likely cannot fund the photos. Did you upload all of the SWFs in the folder to your site?
If you post a link to the page on your site I can help!

Yes, you must upload the entire contents of the folder. The play-slideshow-xxxxx.html file is the html file that contains the slideshow you can view.
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I can't access that page because it's an internal CMS page. You'll need to send me the link to the published page.
Let me know if you need further guidance!

i used slideshow gallery av v.092.b4 to create a couple of galleries. i tested the first gallery by placing it in my site root w/ no path changes to the html; worked fine. then i moved it to a subdirectory & amended the paths; now the gallery just hangs at a "loading info" message.
here's the before & after code:
<!-- Before --> <object style="margin:auto;" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="90%" height="250px" id="player" align="middle"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="movie" value="player.swf?bgcolor=#333333" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="#333333" /> <param name="wmode" value="opaque"> <embed src="player.swf?bgcolor=#333333" quality="high" bgcolor="#333333" width="90%" height="250px" name="player" align="middle" wmode="opaque" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /> </object> <!--After--> <object style="margin:auto;" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="90%" height="250px" id="player" align="middle"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="movie" value="uploaded/flash/colors/player.swf?bgcolor=#333333" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="#333333" /> <param name="wmode" value="opaque"> <embed src="uploaded/flash/colors/player.swf?bgcolor=#333333" quality="high" bgcolor="#333333" width="90%" height="250px" name="player" align="middle" wmode="opaque" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /> </object>
i just finished testing locally on my workstation, & i got the same result when i moved the index.htm & updated the path.
any ideas?
thanks,

Please use the gallery Publishing Help tool (link below) to create the proper embed code for you. It's designed to help with just this sort of problem.
Thanks! Geoff

Hello Geoff,
Is it possible to use some of the music available on slideroll when converting slideshows to videos for showing on YouTube?
I think using pictures and text slides to a tell a story is great. Coverting the slideshows to videos makes them more accessible... finding music to suit slideshows is difficult. I like the tracks you have on your site because they repeat and can go as long as your show. How can I add them to video conversion?
I tried to add some recorded music from my computer had difficulty doing it... perhaps the wave file is not what is considered an MP3. Can you explain.

I really wish I could put the Slideroll music into the videos. Unfortunately the Slideroll music is all short clips that loop. There's no way to loop music in a video - you'd need to create the MP3 that is the exact length of the video and use that.
The Video Creator only supports MP3, not WAV format. You could use software like Winamp or iTunes to convert it to an MP3.
Thanks!
