Almost seven months later... Things have changed. We have been able to find the good things... But we are starting to miss our baseboards... The little things... Sometimes we seem to be fighting a losing battle... As what we thought had been spared ... ...begins to crumble... before our eyes... While so much remains to be done... The little things... seem to grow bigger and bigger... The beautiful new furniture ... and the new cabinets... remain empty. The fixtures continue to rust... The mold continues to grow... What hides behind the little things? Like water-damaged blinds... Or a bowing wall and baseboard... The peeling upstairs ceilings... The things we struggle to ignore each and every day... When we open our door... Seven months and counting since we took on the Gulf of Mexico and it's still anybody's guess who won the battle. Did We Survive Hurricane Katrina or Not?
