Here's our annual update! This year marked a turning point for our daughter Samantha who went to Japan with Miho & Audrey in the spring, and stayed on by herself an extra month to live with her grandmother & attend a local school! She came home practically fluent in Japanese and having made "best friends forever" with so many of her classmates. Now she "owns" it and hopes to spend a few months in Japan each year. Audrey continues to be interested in the human body - primarily red blood cells - her favorite subject since she was little. She says she wants to be either a pediatrician --- or a ballerina someday... We continue to enjoy home schooling and have been blessed with a group of home schooling families who meet once a week to share the classical style of education. Both girls are learning Latin & Sam is also taking on Formal Logic & Writing. Miho spent the whole summer buried in books & developed a unit on Shakespeare to demystify & instill the love of the Bard to the students ranging from 4th through 10th grades. She wished she knew how to study & enjoy the process like that when she was back in school!!! Scott is steeped in building his businesses and has been able to regularly jam with the Berkeley Jazz School Big Band playing jazz trumpet this year. We wish you a blessed holiday season and your most incredible year so far in 2008!
