This year's biggest change was for our oldest, Sammi, who, after 7 years of being home-schooled, went back to a regular school as a junior in high school. She now promptly wakes up at 6:30am, loves meeting & making new friends, and works hard for school. Oh, yes, she also got herself a driver's license! All the while she was in a professional musical production of "Cinderella" - rehearsing & performing after school and on weekends for the last 3 months (Thank goodness she could now drive herself!!!). The show itself was the biggest success for the company and it was fun seeing Sam back on stage again. Audrey was equally blessed with a professional experience this year, dancing in "The Nutcracker" for the Oakland Ballet Company this Christmas season. The company performed at a beautifully restored, historical art-deco theatre in downtown Oakland; looking at the theatre with 3,000 seating capacity, she experienced butterflies in her stomach for the first time in her life, yet knew that she was a part of something special. And it was! Scott continues to devote his time helping people with their finances - glued to the phone most of the days - yet still makes time to exercise, plays jazz and mentors our daughters. He is the glue in the family who holds all of us girls together with firm hand and gentle love & patience. We must say that the highlight of 2010 for Miho was the day she met with the descendants of Commodore Perry, of John Manjiro, of Capt. Whitfield and the current head of the Tokugawa family - all in one setting! Having to call him Mr.(instead of "Shogun"!!) Tokugawa was a very surreal experience she will never forget. When she is not home-schooling and preparing lesson plans for her history or art classes, she still cannot sit still without creating something. So she has been making jewelry for various fund-raising events, teaching sewing classes and just messing about with Audrey in the kitchen. What would 2011 bring to you? May God's grace be with you throughout the year!
