Hello I have just discovered slideroll. I created a test slideshow and then saved it. I then downloaded video creator slideroll and accessed the newly created slide show. After the program encodes the video (when it gets to 100%) a box comes up saying that "the encoding process is taking longer than normal. There may be a problem with your movie". I have tried this with several different test slide shows that I created and it still produces this result. After hitting ok the program tries again and the box reappears. I am at a loss as to why this keeps happening...
thanks for any assistance, Natalie

Natalie,
Sorry for the trouble you are having. Are you on a Mac or PC? Also, are there any spaces or non alphanumeric characters in your computer username?
Are you using the latest version of the Video Creator (0.87b) If you downloaded it within the past couple of days then the answer is yes.
Thanks! Geoff

Hi Geoff I think i know why. I am using Mac and OS 10.4. I see that video roll runs on 10.5. That could explain the problem, i am running on a slower operating system, perhaps, thanks

Hi:
I am also having the same problem that Natalie described above when trying to create videos. I am using a Mac OSX 10.5.8 and do not have any spaces or nonalphanumeric characters in my computer username. Do you have any suggestions/recommendations of how to fix this?
Thank you, Stephanie

Geoff:
I apologize, but I do not know exactly what that means. When I go to the info page it says Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Is that what you are referring to? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for getting back to me.
You meet the requirements. I'll see if I can reproduce this on my end and I'll let you know if I am able to find a solution. Can you tell me the name of the slideshow your were trying to convert?
Sorry for the troubles!

Thank you Geoff! I was trying to convert my slideshow titled "King". I actually tried 2 of the other slideshows that I have created as well and had the same problem. I really appreciate your help!

Yes, I did add an mp3. One thing I will mention just in case it has an impact is that I downloaded the music from iTunes in the mac format (m4a or something like that). I realized it was not mp3 and then converted it using iTunes. Hopefully that isn't what is causing the problems but I wanted to mention it in case. Also, I did not stretch the slideshow to fit the music. Thanks again!

Thanks Geoff! I just tried the new version. After I log in and select a slideshow, it pops up with a window that says "Unable to initialize video encoder. This version of Mac OS X is not compatible with the video creator." Did the system requirements change?
Sorry to be such a bother. Stephanie

Evidentally the version of the encoder I am using in the background is only working in Snow Leopard (10.6) which makes absolutely no sense at all. I added that dialogue so that you don't waste your time capturing the video if the encoder doesn't run.
I'm going to research this further, but I do not have an immediate answer for you. Very sorry!

Thanks so much for your patience and politeness.
I've done a little digging and I've tried to create a version that works with Leopard (10.5.x). Unfortunately I have no way to test it. So, I am presenting it to you to try:
https://slideroll.com/download/files/SliderollVideoCreatorLeopard.zip
Can you please download that file, unzip it and try that app? Let me know if you see any error message like before. (fingers crossed)
Thanks again for your help. By the way, your photography is great!
Regards, Geoff

I really appreciate that Geoff! I did download and try it and I still get the same error message as before.
By the way, thank you, but I cannot take credit for the photography. I am actually a wedding planner, so I have to rely on great wedding photographers for things like that. I will pass that along though. The photos for the King wedding were terrific!

Okay, I've created a new version and tested it on multiple Macs with different operating system versions. This one will work, I know it will!
You can download 0.89b from the standard download location:
https://slideroll.com/videocreator.php
Let me know the result!
Thanks again for your patience and assistance.
