Ask, and ye shall receive.  Due to popular demand, I've added a handy new feature to Slideroll.  Once you've created your slideshow, and published it, you can now download your slideshow and keep it forever.  The downloaded slideshows have no visible branding or advertising, so you can have completely personalized slideshows and you can publish them wherever you like.

This feature is available to all Slideroll Pro members.  Just log in, go to "My Slideshows", and click on one of your published slideshows.  You'll see a red "Download this Slideshow" button.  Click on it, and you'll be given a link to download your slideshow in ZIP format.

Once you've downloaded it, you'll have a packaged slideshow.  UNZIP that file, and you'll see a player, a bunch of photos in SWF format, and an HTML file so you can play it in your browser.

Thanks to everyone for all your support!

Alas!

I had a go at downloading to my Mac (OSX 10.3.4), everything looked great until I had a go at unpacking the .zip file.

"Unknown zip header format encountered. This operation cannot continue."

The operation gets as far as creating a folder for the slideshow to go into, but doesn't put any contents into it. Darn.

I'll try it on a PC at work, too, and tell you how I get on there.

Thanks for your efforts nonetheless.

Andrew.

Aesop...

Thanks for the bug report.  I'll look into this.  What software are you using to unZIP the files?

Andrew,

I was able to replicate your bug.  I did some digging on the "internet", and I found the problem.  I've successfully downloaded the same slideshwo on a PC and a Mac (OS X).  All should be well now.

Thanks again for your help and patience!

Pictureparty,

It could be an HTML error on your page.  Did you try copying and pasting the code that I give you?  Do that, and then view source on your babyhomepages page.  If the code is not the same then the babyhomepages site may be filtering or modifying your content.  If it is exactly the same, then the slideshow should appear.

Hi geoff - it's been awhile, but I'm back again and found this post about downloading my slideshow (it's been published here since Feb '08)  I realize that you pecked your post above - way back in 2004, but...

I'll be darned if I can spy the 'red "Download this Slideshow" button.'

Question is - exactly how do I download my published slide show to my computer?

Thanks!

Hi!

This feature is available to Slideroll Pro members.  If you upgrade to Pro, the button will appear under your slideshows and you can download them and keep them forever.

Thanks!
Geoff

Ah yes, silly me - sorry for not reading it more carefully.

So... does that mean that the 1 slide show I have here under my free account - there's no way for me to copy it onto my computer?

If you go Pro you will be able to download that slideshow.  It doesn't matter that you created it as a free member.

You can also use the free Video Creator to turn your slideshow into a video and save that on your computer.

Thanks!
Geoff
