how do I also create thumbnails of my slideshow?

You cannot place thumbnails into a slideshow.  Pro members can download a gallery version of the slideshow, which includes thumbnails.  You can see that by clicking "Gallery View" next to your slideshow title on your "My Slideshows" page.
