Dear members,
As a result of upgrading to our new, faster, bigger server, we've had an increase in traffic and bandwidth usage of nearly 250%. This is all great news! Unfortunately, due to the popularity of our site, and the many free users we have, we are draining our monthly bandwidth allocation very quickly.
For those of you who don't know the term "bandwidth" in this respect, it means the total amount of data transferred to and from viewers and users of our site.
In the case of all web hosting, bandwidth costs money. There is a certain amount of 'free' bandwidth that comes with our montly fees. Once we go over the limit, we are charged $1 per gigabyte. That may seem cheap, but consider it is looking like we may go over our bandwidth by as much as 100gb. That's a serious drain on a poor web designer's budget! :)
As a result, I am looking into possibly limiting the number of slideshow views per day for free users. I'm thinking of a starting out at a limit of 500 views per day. For most people, that should be plenty.
This limitation will not affect Slideroll Pro members.
Thank you for your understanding.
-Geoff
